The Melanesian Hotel is right on the outskirts of downtown Port Vila - an easy walk - and almost across the street from Nautilus Water Sports and the Waterfront's game fishing fleet.

The Melanesian Hotel is also popular with just about every kind of traveler looking for a mid-range to budget hotel right in Port Vila.

The hotel is built around a courtyard with a garden, two swimming pools (one for the kids), and a pool-side bar.

• One and two bedroom air conditioned apartments are on one end of the courtyard - perfect for families with children
• the air conditioned "orchid rooms" flank the courtyard on either side.
• A third wing that extends between the lobby and the restaurant, bar and gaming lounge has fan cooled budget priced "hibiscus" rooms.

The apartments and hibiscus rooms have kitchens - the orchid rooms do not.

The Melanesian Night at the Melanesian Hotel is the entertainment highlight of the week with Kava and traditional dancing and a string band.

The pool is one of the best in Port Vila for doing morning exercise laps. It is well maintained and clean.
